Masterpiece

After a very successful team event the previous year involving chariot racing and already featured in a Case Study on this website it was always going to be a challenge to top that. The ongoing, and complex, project team of our client, a top 100 UK Blue Chip company, needed a venue for business presentations which also had flexibility of space for a suitable afternoon team event.

Lords Cricket Ground in London provided everything needed to cater for the group of 300 and the Nursery Pavilion was a great location for the day offering views, light and space, all under one roof.

A number of options were considered and rejected for the team event until we came upon the idea of Masterpiece as a way of reinforcing the need by the diverse project team to, at all times, keep an eye on the “bigger picture”. What really clinched it though was the creation of a bespoke picture that represented the achievements and milestones of the project team from concept to present day and also captured the sporting ambience of the venue.

Given 2 hours to complete the challenge the group of 300 worked in 40 teams, each with 4 canvasses to complete. Paul the MC continued to remind the teams of the need to communicate with each other to make sure that colours matched with neighbouring teams and that all details were perfect before finishing.

The end result was a stunning picture measuring 8 metres x 2.4 metres and made up of 160 individual canvases. This was indeed a true example of a large group working together to achieve a common goal in spite of the obstacles around them. In fact it is so impressive that it will be hanging in a corporate office in central London soon!
