STAFF MOTIVATION - what's it all about?
"Motivation" means so much to so many, so lets try to break it down a bit and get a better understanding of what it is and what options are available.
Motivation v Staff Incentives.
In general terms staff incentives are given on an individual basis, perhaps holidays for top achievers or vouchers for best performance of the day/week/month/year.
There are many excellent and cheap options available for staff incentive programmes ranging from the simple voucher, through to a day at a health resort or a driving experience, then on to some more exciting experiences such as flying or driving a tank, right up to the top notch all expenses paid trips abroad.
Staff motivation on the other hand is done more en-masse as in total team, total department and ideally total Company. Just like advertising, any one bit of motivation will work partially for you but people need continually motivating to get the best out of them. This does not mean just shelling out for expensive days out all the time and a good all round
staff motivation programme will incorporate many different aspects from a regular night at the pub, to bowling, in-house competitions and the more structured team building events.
Why Motivate?
It's very simple really. In spite of fabulous technology and telecommunications ability, people still like to get together "face to face". In an era when so many of us sit at desks and never meet the people within our own Company, there are many excellent ways of getting people together to promote staff motivation, encouraging the different departments to work efficiently as one company. There is a considered argument that the majority of people will be more turned on and inspired by a good day out than another £100 in the pay package, which is then taxed!
People want FUN, and great motivational events allow people throughout the company from Chairman to receptionist to mix in an informal environment. It's a great leveller and a fantastic photo opportunity!
We provide team events and employee motivation games that allow
staff to see their work colleagues in a different light, to have a laugh and to build new relationships that will in the end benefit them and of course your company.
Sceptical you might be, but staff motivation events really work and too many successful companies are using them on a regular basis for it not to be a valid way to recruit and retrain good staff and to build good teams.
When Can It Be used?
- Creation of a new Company
- Development of new teams
- Low staff morale
- Celebrate good news
- Flotation parties
- Christmas Parties
- Conference Ice Breakers
- Annual Results
- Sales Incentives
How Expensive Is It?
The $64000 question and because staff motivation events are such a huge market it can cost whatever you can afford. Sounds a bit blasé I know but its actually true.
The cost of a motivational event does very much depend on group size but there is a plethora of different things that can be done. Let's consider a few examples:
The internet has made this a very competitive market place like all others and in general costs have come down but it is still a very bespoke market. Each group size and event will demand a different price.
Group size is not an issue and one of the most popular forms of company wide staff motivation is the Fun Day, a most cost effective way of motivation for staff and families all together. Groups from 100 – 20000 easily catered for!
